War Dog, Dogs In Canada

The above image went with an article about the history of the canine-human relationship for the 2008 Dogs In Canada Annual. The Airdale terrier (pictured) worked as sentry, scout and ambulance dog in WWI. Apparently they were helpful for a number of tasks, one being keeping the trenches free of rats and mice. The two-page spread and other illustrations in the series are pictured below. Art Director: Sanjini Wadugodapitiya.
