A one semester survey course in history of mathematics covering developments in mathematics through the lens of different cultural contexts from ancient times to the present day. This is a seminar style small enrollment course, where each student chooses a topic within the development of mathematics and becomes a course expert on that topic. The course design uses a network model where students teach each other about course topics through instructor- and peer-facing instruction and assessment.
TRIUMPHS PROJECTS
For some learning in this course I drew upon curriculum materials created by the NSF funded project TRIUMPHS: Transforming Instruction in Undergraduate Mathematics via Primary Historical Sources and from Learning Discrete Mathematics and Computer Science via Primary Historical Sources.
